 | ÁSTOR PIAZZOLLA Ástor Piazzolla (1921 – 1992) was an Argentine tango composer and bandoneón (an Argentinian concertina) player. He revolutionized the traditional tango into a new style termed 'nuevo tango' incorporating elements from jazz and classical music. He is therefore widely considered the most important tango composer of the latter half of the twentieth century. Perhaps his best known piece is 'Libertango' used in Sally Potter's 1997 film 'The Tango Lesson'.
